Craft/Object Fellowship 2015 Call for Applications

Creative New Zealand is calling for applications for the Creative New Zealand 2015 Craft/Object Fellowship, which is awarded to practitioners, curators and writers working in traditional applied arts or contemporary practice, including Ngā Toi Māori and Pacific arts.

In response to Creative New Zealand’s reviews of craft/object and visual arts in 2014, the fund will be increased this year from $65,000 to $100,000.

The Fellowship provides the time and/or resources for an established or senior craft/object practitioner, curator or writer to commit to a period of deep investigation, experimentation or research in their practice.

Applicants for the Fellowship need to have a strong national reputation in the Craft/Object sector, have received critical acclaim for the work that they have produced and completed a body of work of acknowledged artistic excellence.

Genres may include clay/ceramics, jewellery, glass, fibre/textiles, raranga, whakairo, Pacific Island costume and weaving, metal work, wood work and studio-based object and furniture design.

The Fellowship was offered annually for its first three years (2004 – 2006) and is now offered biennially.

Previous recipients are: Malcolm Harrison (2004), Peter Lange (2005), Rangi Kipa (2006), Moyra Elliott (2009), Baye Riddell (2011) and Garry Nash (2013).
