The Rock, Frontier Touring And Laneway Festival Announce Jakob to Support Royal Blood Sideshow

In just over two weeks time, rock’n’roll’s youngest and loudest powerhouse Royal Blood will hit New Zealand for a several appearances in both Auckland and Wellington. The Rock, Frontier Touring and Laneway festival are seriously chuffed to announce that thunderous post-rockers JAKOB will be supporting at their Wellington show in Shed 6 on Wednesday, 28 January.

Those familiar with the sound of JAKOB will agree that they are in fact New Zealand’s most formidable sonic instrumental three-piece. Having toured the world with the likes of Isis, Pelican, Cog and The Hidden Hand, the reputation of the band’s live show and sophisticated recorded output has progressed steadily over the years. They have been personally invited to tour with American prog-rock heroes Tool throughout Australia and New Zealand not once but twice, and have toured alongside Damo Suzuki, frontman for seminal German psychedelic band Can. Late last year, they released the explosive, moody LP Sines to critical acclaim.

While Iconic bands like Mogwai, Sonic Youth, Sigur Ros and ISIS are considered Jakob’s artistic contemporaries, the band have have long since earned their own renown around the globe as a unique sonic entity.

Wellingtonians are in for an exceptional evening from these two acts. One of the country’s most heralded live acts with a back catalogue of critically acclaimed, and widely adored recorded releases, Jakob takes fans of rock music to another place of unbridled, heaving force -- heating things up perfectly for the main event in Wellington, Royal Blood’s ferocious, urgent energy celebrating the anguished, primal essence of rock’n’roll.
