Rising alt-country star Marlon Williams has released the video for his latest single Dark Childand will tour New Zealand in February with special guests Eb & Sparrow.

Filmed by Auckland-based production company Candlelit Pictures, the video is a play on the classic American cinema trope of a crime scene and a wayward son, bending it to a surreal conclusion. It is morbid, thought provoking, funny and often downright strange, capturing the ambiguity and sinister nature of the songs lyrics.

Dark Child is the lead single from Williams’ debut album, which is due for release on April 24th. Recorded in Lyttelton, with his long time producer Ben Edwards (Aldous Harding, Tami Neilson), the track has been on high rotation at bFM, RDU, Radio 1 and Kiwi FM over recent weeks.

Williams tours New Zealand with his full band The Yarra Benders in February, playing Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

He will be joined by Wellington band Eb & Sparrow, performing as a duo at all shows. They have supported the likes of Rodriguez, Pokey LeFarge and Beth Orton in recent times, and released their debut album in September 2014 to critical acclaim.

Williams has put on some of the most talked about performances of the last 12 months, selling out his solo tour in July, touring Australia with Justin Townes Earle and First Aid Kit, and playing major festivals including Meredith and Queenscliff Music Festivals.
