Wellington's newest burlesque troupe

Wellington's newest burlesque troupe pops it's cherry at Out in the Park

The Kaleidoscope Belles are Wellingtons newest burlesque troupe who will make their debut on Valentine’s Day at the new venue for Wellingtons long standing queer fair - Out in the Park 2015.

The performance at Out in the Park is a ‘GA rated’ burlesque performance, suitable for young ones, families and Grandparents. “This is the one chance the performers children actually get to see what Mum does with all those sparkles” says Crystal Mischief organiser of The Kaleidoscope Belles.

Burlesque has been seen at Out in the Park before, Sadie von Scrumptious and The Rainbow Troupe have performed for the past 4 years. This year Ms von Scrumptious was unable to commit the time to creating The Rainbow Troupe so Ms Mischief saw a gap in the market for a burlesque troupe in Wellington and created The Kaleidoscope Belles.

It’s not often we perform outside or on a stage with no lighting, so that’s something new for us as performers, but we will make sure that we still do, what we do best – entertain you” says Ms Mischief.

Ms Mischief is hoping this cheeky and fun performance will connect with people who are curious about burlesque who would like to go to a show but don’t know where to start. “Wellington has a strong burlesque scene; there is usually a show on each weekend. The shows showcase burlesque, cabaret, circus and pole. There is even a show that is set on an airplane with air hostess, cabin crew and we even hand out lollies when the show is ending, just like on an airplane.”

Out in the Park is on Saturday 14 February 2015, Waitangi Park. More information on Out in the Park can be found here: http://outinthepark.co.nz/
