Kiwi actor set to star in post-Apocalyptic movie

A new dystopian sci-fi feature film starring New Zealand actor James Morcan is soon to begin production in Australia.

After filming two recent productions together in ‘My Cornerstone’ and ‘Love You Krishna,’ New Zealand actor and writer James Morcan is set to team up with director and producer Stanley Joseph once more. This time it’s a post-Apocalyptic story titled ‘After Armageddon,’ which Morcan penned the script for and will play a lead role in.

Filming is scheduled to begin later this month in rural New South Wales and is being produced by Joseph’s production company World Pictures Australia.

“Stanley Joseph and I work very well together and I admire his courage and ambition,” says Morcan, speaking today from his Sydney residence. “I am delighted to be working with Stanley again on what will be our third feature film together.”

The first film Joseph and Morcan made together was ‘My Cornerstone,’ an international romantic comedy shot in India and Australia which Morcan also acted in and wrote.

“My Cornerstone is proving to be a success after being distributed in cinemas in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth late last year. In the coming months it will be released in cinemas in various territories including India-wide as well as Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.”

‘After Armageddon’ is expected to be more improvisational than Morcan and Joseph’s previous collaborations, and the pair hope it will push the envelope cinematically.

Morcan says, “This film is certainly different to anything I’ve done in the past as it is performance-driven rather than story-driven. It will be a synthesis between film and theatre where the stage is the spectacular Australian landscape.

“It’s essentially about survivors of a global Armageddon who have to come to terms with being the last humans left on Earth.”
