Results from the 50th Southern Shears shearing and woolhandling championships in Gore on Friday-Saturday, February 20-21:

Shearing:

International:

Elders Primary Wool Series first test (4 fullwool, 6 second-shear): New Zealand 88.626pts (David Fagan 9min 29.44sec, 42.072pts; Tony Coster 9min 59.08sec, 46.554pts) beat Wales 97.252pts (Gwion Evans 10min 28.02sec, 46.301pts; Rhys Jones 10min 43.02sec, 50.951pts) by 8.626pts. The second test will be at Apiti on Saturday, February 28.

Inter-Island Challenge (10 sheep): North Island 118.32pts (David Buick 9min 46.25sec, 38.31pts; Dion King 9min 29.72sec, 39.59pts; David Fagan 10min 2.34sec, 40.42pts) beat South Island 124.34pts (Nathan Stratford 9min 44.75sec, 39.14pts; Darin Forde 9min 52.44sec, 41.32pts; Tony Coster 10min 7.53sec, 43.88pts) by 6.02pts.
