Affordable Art for All!

MEDIA RELEASE: AFFORDABLE ART FOR ALL!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Napier Girls’ High School’s first annual Affordable Art Exhibition will showcase quality art at bargain prices.

To be held 27-29 March, the fundraising exhibition will give art lovers a chance to view over 200 pieces of art from 50 professional artists, as well as work created by students and teachers.

With every piece of art priced at $1,000 or less, the exhibition will provide a unique opportunity to start an art collection or add to treasures already owned. Examples of some of the artwork on offer over the weekend can be viewed on the Affordable Art Exhibition Napier Facebook site www.facebook.com/AffordableArtExhibitionNapier

Local artist Heather Wilson and a small group of other parents of Napier Girls’ High students are the driving force behind the event, which will feature the work of artists from around Hawke’s Bay and beyond.

“The artwork is of a particularly high standard and we feel privileged to be showcasing work from some of New Zealand’s most talented artists.”

This year the funds raised will be used to facilitate the girls in making well-informed choices as they move from Napier Girls’ High School into tertiary education and careers.

“The fundraiser is not only an entertaining way to raise money for the school’s transition to work programmes, but has also allowed students to gain hands-on experience of an art exhibition,” says Heather.

“This is a first for Napier Girls’ High, and has provided students with an opportunity to see first-hand how an exhibition works. Having been involved in art exhibitions around the country, I saw an opportunity for the girls to gain insight into the art world, and also for the school to raise funds and provide an interesting community event at the same time.”
