Positive environment at Polyfest
Police attending the Polyfest event at the Manukau Sports Bowl are pleased with crowd behaviour so far, with one more day of the event to come.
Operation Commander Inspector Alan Shearer says that in its 40th year, the event is a positive demonstration of our diverse community working together.
“It’s great to see so many young people out enjoying the performances and supporting the schools who are competing,” says Insepctor Shearer. “In Police we do see our youth at both ends of the spectrum and it’s great to see the community in such a positive light today.”
A number of Police are present at the event working to ensure it’s a safe environment for everyone who attends.
There have been no major incidents requiring Police attendance but a small number of people have been removed from the event for minor disorder incidents or possessing offensive or illegal items.
“Overall we are happy with the way the event has been run and we have a number of partner agencies working with us to ensure everything remains positive for the final and busiest day of the event tomorrow.”
At the event, Counties Manukau Police is running a competition for children to win a ride to school in a Police car with their friends. See the Police tent at the event and have a chat with officers about how to prevent your valuables being stolen from your car to enter.
