Everclear tour New Zealand in honour of ‘Sparkle & Fade’

US power-pop heavyweights Everclear are returning to New Zealand to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their hit album Sparkle and Fade.

Promoter Paul Marshall of The Artist Agency says Everclear will play Auckland’s Studio The Venue on May 1st, Wellington’s Bodega on May 3rd and Christchurch’s Allen Street Rock Club on May 5th before heading across the Tasman to perform eight Australian dates.

The band will perform all the songs from their classic Sparkle and Fade album, including Heroin Girl and Santa Monica, as well as tracks from their forthcoming ninth studio album, Black is the New Black, which was released on April 29.

“I’m delighted to have Art and the boys back in New Zealand — they’re lovely chaps to work with,” says Marshall.

Band leader, Art Alexakis, says New Zealand holds a special place for Everclear and while here they’ll perform their new songs for the first time in front of a live audience.

“I love New Zealand; I love the people, the country and everything about it. I can’t wait to get back down there and play again — we had a blast last time round in 2012, so we’re coming back to New Zealand first before the rest of the world,” says Alexakis.

Marshall says the shows will feature some great Kiwi support acts. They are:

_ Auckland: Hanger 18, Fuser and Silence the City

_ Wellington: Merrin, Silence the City and King Laser _ Christchurch: Setting Fire to Stacey and Assembly Required.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now. Fans can purchase an advance copy of Everclear’s new album while purchasing a ticket, so head along to Ticketek to find out more.
