National Film Competition Gets Plus Sized.

The long-running wildly popular filmmaking competition has just announced an additional incentive for those entering this year’s challenge.

Now in it’s 13th year the competition has in conjunction with the New Zealand Film Commission setup a rolling devolved fund called 48+ that is a development programme to support the growth of untapped/unknown 48HOURS writers in the early stages of their career. The programme provides support from story concept through to first draft, and all the way through to potentially getting their script produced.

Through this development, 48+ will invest in talent in order to create New Zealand’s next generation of savvy screenwriters and/or screenplays that meet and understand today’s international marketplace.

This programme is unique in that it is tailored to each of the 48+ writers individual professional development needs. At its core, the programme is a flexible mentorship for four writer/ writer/directors per year that is shaped to their individual requirements.

Rialto Channel 48HOURS which is supported by Sir Peter Jackson has a track record of entrants going on to carve out successful careers in the film and television industries. Past winners include Taika (What We Do In The Shadows) Waititi, Gerard (Housebound) Johnstone, Downlow Concept (7 Days, Hounds).
