It's opening day for Festival of Colour2015!

Yesterday's gorgeous opening ceremony kicked off outside of the Armstrong Room at Lake Wanaka Centre, before moving inside for a sneak preview of Joseph Michael's stunning landscape installation, Dark Cloud White Light.

After that, it was over to the Central Lakes Trust Crystal Palace, where Casus Circus from Australia offered a tantalising taster of Knee Deep, whilst the audience was treated to a gorgeous selection of Mt Difficulty wines and Francesca's Pizza.

Finally, it was down to the Wanaka lakefront, where a large crowd gathered to witness the setting alight of floating rafts - a glowing spectacle combining the works of Ahi Ka artists Ross Hemera, Priscilla Cowie and Su Proebster.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the opening ceremonies - and here's to a spectacular Festival week!

Like There's No Tomorrow (7pm, Gin and Raspberry): The award-winning Playground Collective worked with local Mt Aspiring College drama students to stage this compelling theatre work, set at a volatile afterball. Please note that this work contains some very adult themes, and is recommended for audience members 16+.

Coffee Cantata (10pm, Central Lakes Trust Crystal Palace): Get yourself an espresso from our barista, then sit back and revel in a comic, burlesque-infused operatic tale of a clever daughter addicted to coffee and her not-so-wily father who tries to ban her from drinking it.

Central (7pm, Queenstown Memorial Hall): This world premiere of a fresh work by Dave Armstrong follows the path of wealthy, successful Auckland screenwriter Michael Caughey, who is forced to struggle with the issue of money versus art.

CAFE (5pm, Federal Diner): This final chapter in the site-specific series (HOTEL, SALON) lets us tune into the buzz of the coffee house; a funny, caffeinated, delightful work of brand-new New Zealand theatre.
