Statement issued on behalf of the family of Vaughan Te Moana

Statement issued on behalf of the family of Vaughan Te Moananui

"As a family we would like to thank everyone, including the Police, for their support during this difficult and emotional time.

"Despite Vaughan's challenges, we loved him all the same, and ask that we be allowed to grieve for him in private.

"We are also distressed at some of the recent comments and speculation made about us in the media, which are hurtful and untrue.

"We ask that media please respect our privacy and request that they do not attend Vaughan's funeral which is a private family event.

"We will not be making any further comment but will instead await the outcome of the various investigations into Vaughan's death, which need to run their course."
