Netball Announces New Apparel Partner BLK

Netball New Zealand (NNZ) and international sports apparel company BLK have today announced an exciting new partnership.

The partnership will see the internationally recognised sportswear brand provide cutting edge, high performance on and off court ranges for personnel at all levels of Netball in New Zealand including the Silver Ferns, for the next three years.

On the international stage, BLK provide industry leading apparel for a host of nations including the New Zealand Rugby League and Great Britain Rugby League teams along with the Fiji, Samoa, Croatia, Cyprus and USA Rugby Unions.

BLK NZ CEO Peter Rakich says the brand has been established and developed through many successful alliances across the NRL, rugby union, AFL, cricket, Netball and most recently football through the A League.

“As a brand BLK has forged strong partnerships with a host of internationally recognised, successful and driven teams around the world and we are delighted to welcome NNZ and the Silver Ferns to the BLK family,” he said.

“One of world Netball’s most competitive forces, the entire team at BLK look forward to working closely with NNZ over the next three years and celebrating the on and off court successes we are confident the organisation will achieve.”

The NNZ high performance team have worked closely with BLK’s design teams to develop industry leading technology for the Silver Ferns on-court dresses. The brand will also outfit New Zealand’s leading umpires.

It’s the first time BLK have invested in New Zealand’s top female sport in this country, extending its portfolio.

NNZ Chief Executive Hilary Poole says the inking of a three year partnership is a step in the right direction for Netball in New Zealand.

“To be associated with such a dynamic and forward-thinking company as BLK is exciting for our organisation,” Poole said.

“BLK are internationally recognised as one of the leaders of high tech performance and training apparel for sports teams due to their commitment to innovation and development.

“We recorded an increase in Netball participation throughout the country last year and the benefits to our stakeholders being able to access top quality gear is important for us.”

BLK will outfit all national Netball teams in New Zealand, from the Silver Ferns through to the New Zealand Secondary Schools team.

As part of the partnership, BLK will develop a new online store, creating an exciting range of apparel for supporters. The new range will include replica Silver Ferns gear and a trendy new vintage range of apparel. The online store is scheduled to be launched in June 2015.

BLK’s new look Silver Ferns dresses will be unveiled in the near future along with a range of training apparel.
