Grant Apologises for Unacceptable Behaviour
Following a disciplinary hearing staged yesterday afternoon by the Trans Tasman Netball League (TTNL), operators of the ANZ Championship, Mojo Pulse Captain Katrina Grant has been found in breach of the ANZ Championship’s Code of Conduct.
Katrina accepted that she had showed dissent towards an official. She received a two-match ban, suspended for 12 months, which means she is free to take the court against the Thunderbirds in Adelaide on Sunday.
It was acknowledged that her behaviour was a departure from her usual high standards. Following the receipt of the initial complaint, Katrina immediately wrote to the umpire in question and apologised unreservedly for her behaviour. The Disciplinary Officer took into account her exemplary record over 10 years playing at the highest level and also the clear remorse she has shown.
“My behaviour was unacceptable,” she said. “I allowed my emotions and the significance of the game to get the better of me.
“The process has been fair and I accept the findings of the hearing. It’s been a tough few days for everyone and I’m just glad I can put it behind me now and concentrate on leading my team during Sunday’s game against the Thunderbirds.”
The Mojo Pulse will not be making any further comment on this matter and will be focusing on their game against the Adelaide Thunderbirds this Sunday at Netball SA Stadium in Adelaide. Centre pass is 11.48am local time (2.18pm NZ).
