American Express Queenstown Winter Festival Starts (19-28 June)
Tens of thousands of locals and visitors will take to Queenstown streets and ski slopes for the Southern Hemisphere's biggest winter party, to celebrate the official start to winter.
It's a 10 day celebration of Queenstown's unique culture and community with street parties, fireworks, international and local acts, comedy, family fun, and plenty of Mountain Mayhem.

The Remarkables opens

Join us as we welcome the start of what promises to be an exciting season at The Remarkables.
Following on from the success of the new Curvey Basin chairlift last year, 2015 at The Remarkables will be an exciting year with its 30th birthday, and a brand new base building to celebrate.
Even if you are not planning to hit the slopes come and soak up the atmosphere. Grab a coffee, take a seat and enjoy views across the slopes and across the valley to Coronet Peak and the Southern Alps.

Slopestyle Invitational – Winter Festival

Top qualifiers feature alongside some of NZ’s top skiers and boarders to see who pulls out the best tricks. Winners will scoop up some cash and epic goodies. A valid lift pass is required to access the Remarkables terrain park.

Peak to Peak

A winter Multisport event for Individuals and teams. The race starts high on the Remarkables ski field with a 2km ski or snow board down to the Remarkables access road. An exhilarating 17km mountain bike down the road takes competitors to the edge of Lake Wakatipu in Frankton for a 7km paddle into Queenstown bay. From downtown Queenstown the final two race stages are a 9km run to Coronet Alpine Hotel and then a 9km bike ride up to the finish line at Coronet Peak. This event is great for aspiring Multi Sporters to test themselves against the best or a team to participate and have a lot of Fun.

Burton Snowbroads 1
Girls only Snowboard Freestyle camp

This is strictly girls only, designed for Snowboarders who are intermediate and above ability level. Some of NZ’s top riders will be coaching and we have just 60 places per camp. Two camps are run through the season.

The day starts with breakfast and a glass of bubbles, you’ll then be divided into groups of similar ability. On top of coaching for the day, you’ll get a BBQ lunch, transport is included to and from The Remarks as well as plenty of prizes and giveaways throughout the day including the chance to win a Burton Snowboard. Then when it’s all over you’ll be able to view loads of pics and video footage from the day.

This is strictly girls only, designed for Snowboarders who are intermediate and above ability level. Some of NZ’s top riders will be coaching and we have just 60 places per camp. Two camps are run through the season,

The day starts with breakfast and a glass of bubbles, you’ll then be divided into groups of similar ability. On top of coaching for the day, you’ll get a BBQ lunch, transport is included to and from The Remarks as well as plenty of prizes and giveaways throughout the day including the chance to win a Burton Snowboard. Then when it’s all over you’ll be able to view loads of pics and video footage from the day.

Sunday August 23
Run up the Road

The 13km access road to the Remarkables ski area, usually conquered by vehicles, will be tackled by a team of keen runners in a Daffodil day fundraiser.
Runners can choose to run the whole access road or just the last 5.5km to the top or run the final 1km, and money raised through sponsorship will be donated to the Cancer Society.
Free for anyone to enter with a minimum $20 donation to the Cancer Society.

Junior Interfield Competition
Interfield racing is designed to introduce young athletes, from U10 to U16, to alpine events and competitions such as G.S (Giant Slalom), SL (Slalom) and combined GS/SL Kombi race events. Athletes ski the course twice and it's their combined times that are recorded and ranked.

Burton Stash Gathering

The Stash at The Remarkables will become the focus of all things fun and creative with the call going out to bring your most expressive lines through the Stash in a low key, grass roots style event for both grommies and open divisions. With half hour sessions on certain features throughout the day going down, this will all culminate at the Stash Hut for a BBQ and prizes for those who enter.
Register on the day in the main café from 9-10am with the first session going down at 11am at the top of the Stash. FREE TO ENTER but there is a $20 bib deposit which you get back at the end. Prize giving will be at the Stash hut at 2:30pm with spot prizes and placing prizes given out.
