15th Annual Upper Hutt Poetry Competition underway
Upper Hutt City Library is once again hosting the Upper Hutt Poetry Competition.
UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 18 JUN 2015—The Upper Hutt Poetry Competition is underway for its fifteenth consecutive year. The competition will again award entries in three age groups: Adults, Young Adults (12 – 18), and Children (6 – 11). Previous years have seen a significant response in each age bracket from the local community, and entry numbers reached 183 in 2014. This year is expected to have a similar response.
Entries must relate to the 2015 theme ‘Time.’ This broad topic gives contributors a chance to explore the theme in any way they please, good, bad, special, sad, past, present or future.
“The event was very successful last year with people taking part from all over the country,” says Upper Hutt City Library’s Community Programmes Coordinator, Jane Cherry. “This year already shows promise as it has generated a great deal of interest.”
The deadline for entries is Friday, 7 August 2015.
