Luhmuhlen End of Dressage

Luhmuhlen End of Dressage

Price Top Three in Both 3 and 4 Stars at Luhmuhlen

Jonelle Price is on fire at the Luhmühlen International Horse Trials in Germany, sitting in third place in the CCI4* and second in the CIC3* at the end of the dressage phase.

The world number five ranked rider was over the moon with the efforts of her beautiful little grey mare Faerie Dianimo (owned by Trisha Rickards and Jacky Green) who scored 32.8 penalty points – Price’s best-ever dressage score.

“I was surprised how well she did today. She can be quite difficult and it took me a lot of time and work to get her on my side,” she said.

“I knew she had all the potential to do an exceptional test, but she has never been this consistent before. This is only her second four star – event after Pau, so I am hoping for a nice round tomorrow. She has a big jump in her and is super – fast, so the course should be very well suited to her.”

Julien Despotin (BEL) and Waldano lead the four star on 31.9, with Ingrid Klimke (GER) and FRH Escada JS just behind on 32.7.

Sir Mark Todd is the next best of the Kiwis with his 36.5 efforts on NZB Campino (owned by New Zealand Bloodstock and Todd), with Jesse Campbell and Kaapachino (owned by Jesse and Dr Craig Campbell) in eighth on 36.8 and Lizzie Brown rounding out the top 10 with Henton Attorney General (owned by Tessa Grant and Brown) on 38.2.

Campbell and Brown are both on début at four star level.

In the CIC3*, Pia Munker (GER) and Louis M lead the way on 34.6, with Price and Cloud Dancer (owned by the Marley and Me Syndicate) in second on 36.9 and Andreas Ostholt (GER) on So is Et in third on 37.4.

Tim Price and The Court Jester (owned by Kyrle Arscott and Mr and Mrs D Chappell) sit just outside the top 10 with their 48.6 efforts.

Tonight will see the start of the all-important cross country phase, in which designer Captain Mark Phillips has reversed the direction of the course this year, giving it a “completely new approach”.
