Lotto coming to Wednesday soon
Lotto, Powerball and Strike will be drawn on Wednesday
as well as Saturday later this year, giving Kiwis another
chance to win big with Lotto across the week.
“These game changes will create more winners, more millionaires and more chances to win than ever before,” said Lotto New Zealand’s Chief Executive Wayne Pickup.
Lotto, Powerball and Strike will be played in exactly the same way on Wednesday as they are on Saturday.
The jackpot for Powerball will be linked between both draws, which means that if the top prize isn’t struck on Saturday it will increase and be up for grabs on the following Wednesday – and so on, until it’s won.
“This means the Powerball jackpot will grow bigger, faster – giving our customers more to play for, more often,” said Mr Pickup.
“We’ve listened to what our customers have told us. They love winning, they love simplicity, and they love convenience. That’s Lotto on a Wednesday and a Saturday.”
This is the latest in a series of innovations from Lotto New Zealand, bringing customers new ways to play and win.
“Recent innovations like our ticket-checker app for smartphones and online subscriptions have improved the experience for our players and made playing our games more convenient,” said Mr Pickup.
This latest Lotto evolution will support Lotto NZ’s purpose – to generate money for New Zealand communities.
“Lotto players help make good things happen by generating essential funding for thousands of community projects every year.
“We think Lotto on Wednesday is really going to take off, leading to increased lottery funding to communities up and down New Zealand.”
To make way for the Lotto draw on Wednesday, Big Wednesday will be finishing. The exact date for the first Lotto draw on Wednesday will be announced soon, but is expected to be some time in October. Further information will be available later this year.
