Melanoma New Zealand charity auction brings in $80,000

Melanoma New Zealand is celebrating a successful fundraising evening after raising $80,000 from exclusive auction items.

Melanoma New Zealand, which works to prevent avoidable deaths from melanoma, invited 80 high profile guests to John and Rose Dunn’s spectacular central Auckland home on Thursday 18 June to be part of this unique evening and to bid on a diverse selection of items and experiences.

The event was hosted by celebrity chef Josh Emett, a Michelin star chef and MasterChef judge. Mr Emett, who is also a passionate Ambassador for Melanoma New Zealand, entertained guests and took them on a gastronomical tour of New Zealand before the auction began.

“Funds raised through this prestigious event will be used to raise awareness of melanoma amongst the farming and agricultural communities, an area that Josh is very passionate about,” CEO of Melanoma New Zealand Linda Flay said.

Auction items included a New Zealand hand-crafted diamond necklace, a luxury accommodation package at the five-star Kauri Cliffs lodge in Northland, a Queenstown luxury weekend package, as well as a hunting and fishing expedition. An ice-axe signed by Sir Edmund Hillary attracted the highest bid at $25,000.

“We are incredible grateful to our sponsors and donors who helped to make this evening a memorable occasion,” Mrs Flay said.
