Cadbury Chocolate Carnival Celebrates 15 Years

Cadbury Chocolate Carnival Celebrates 15 Years

The 15th annual Dunedin Cadbury Chocolate Carnival kicks off on Saturday 11 July. Over 50 chocolate themed events are scheduled across the week to raise money for charities throughout New Zealand.

The Carnival culminates on Friday 17 July with the infamous Jaffa Race, which for the second year in a row will run a total of three races. All proceeds from the first race will go to Make-A-Wish New Zealand with community group Surf Life Saving New Zealand receiving takings from race two. Highly anticipated race three, renowned for revealing a different coloured Jaffa at the last minute, donates all proceeds to Parent Centre New Zealand.

Jack Evison, General Manager Mondelez NZ, believes the Carnival is a highlight on the Cadbury calendar.

“Each year the Dunedin Cadbury Chocolate Carnival gets bigger and bigger. In its 15th year now, we have raised over $740,000 for local charities including Cure Kids, Canteen, Dunedin Kindergarten Association, The Malcam Charitable Trust and The Otago Community Hospice.”

Every year the Cadbury Chocolate Carnival brings joy to the Dunedin community while attracting tourism and helping the local economy.

Highlights this year include the ever popular Crunchie Train ride, an even bigger Cadbury Couture Fashion Show to be held at the town hall and the Chef’s Table Dinner hosted by Chef Greg Piner.

The Carnival opens at Meridian Mall this Saturday with a real life chocolate ‘Dream’ machine from 10am-3pm and three chocolate fountains providing a day of fun and entertainment for the whole family.
