Forty and Fabulous

Forty and Fabulous: Auckland Women’s Centre’s Ruby Anniversary

In 1975, ‘A Feminist Centre for All Women’ was set up by the Auckland Women’s Liberation group on Ponsonby Road.

Forty years later, the Auckland Women’s Centre is proudly celebrating their 40th anniversary having survived and grown, outliving governments, ideologies and countless financial challenges.

The night will be celebrated in style with a fabulous vegetarian feast prepared by the Little Grocer.

The evening will be hosted by Cissy Rock, a long-term feminist and supporter of the Centre, who will be joined by entertainers Ellie Lim and Sabrina Muck, rejoicing the unique talents of the Centre’s women, making this evening a celebration of both past and present.

“I am proud of how far the Centre has come in supporting the women that need us most and hope that we are able to continue empowering women of all ages and backgrounds into the future”, writes Centre Manager, Leonie Morris.

The night will be a reminder of all that the Centre has achieved in supporting and empowering women as well as a hopeful look to the future of feminism.
