Rising Star of Pacific Dance Andy Faiaoga Free Classes at Pacific Dance Artist Residency


Andy Faiaoga, a rising star in Pacific choreography will be taking workshops at the Pacific Dance Artist Residency 2015.

The Pacific Dance Artist in Residence programme is now in its sixth year and for the first time has been split between various Pacific dance artists. Andy has been asked to take two sessions at the residency originally programmed for friend Tupe Lualua, who has been called back to Wellington on short notice. Andy stepping in and offering a great complimentary experience for the participants involved.

Andy has choreographed the show '1918', which is currently playing at Mangere Arts Centre this week and is looking forward to taking up the challenge of filling Tupe's boots on the residency.

Andy has been dancing since he was young but got his first major break in the dance group - Urban Nesian Arts & Torotoro Dance company in 2008. This was followed with formal training at Porirua's 'Whitireia New Zealand' before Andy joined 'Black Grace' (2013-2014).

Andy then joined the Wellington based group 'Le Moana' in which he is currently touring the show '1918'.

1918 had a sold-out season in Wellington and the group is hoping for the same sort of success in Auckland.

the Manukau Theatre in the Manukau Tertiary Centre, above the train station on Davies Ave in Manukau

Wednesday & Thursday 29th & 30th July between 330pm - 530pm.

The theatre entrance is on Level 1 of the centre.
