Discover Me Travel International Baby Boomer of the Year

Discover Me Travel International Baby Boomer of the Year Award

Nominations are now open for the Discover Me Travel International Baby Boomer of the Year Award. The winner of the international award will win a 14 day adventure travel experience to Thailand with Discover Me Travel.

Baby Boomers are people born between 1946 and 1964 and aged 50 through to 68 years old as of 1st January 2015.

Director of Discover Me Travel, Billie Jordan, says Baby Boomers are often criticised for out numbering other age groups in the world population and living in a time of relative economic prosperity compared to their parents who lived through two world wars.

"Baby Boomers deserve to be celebrated in every way possible. As a product of a post world war era, they have grown up in a social environment that values international peace, an honest day's work and having fun with few resources. The people in this age group have made a wonderful contribution to the world in every aspect from science and technology through to the civil rights and women's liberation movement. They have taken part in some of the biggest social changes in world history and have an innate optimism and sense of adventure which should be commemorated and harnessed to inspire all other age groups," says 45 year old Billie Jordan.

"The winner will experience 14 days of fun and adventure in 4-5 star accommodation in Thailand with 10 other travellers in the tour group and will gain a qualification as an elephant caretaker at a highly respected elephant refuge, visit the long neck Karen hill tribes people in the Golden Triangle and enjoy relaxing in resorts at some of the best beaches in the world," says Jordan.

"Baby Boomers love learning , doing new things and having fun adventures. So a tour with Discover Me Travel is the perfect prize for them," says Jordan.

The ten finalists for the global award will each receive a DVD copy of the inspiring and heart-warming feature documentary film 'Hip Hop-eration' which follows the journey of 27 senior citizens from Waiheke Island, led by their manager Billie Jordan, in their quest to perform at the World Hip Hop Championships in Las Vegas.

"We've made the criteria for entry very simple as we want to hear from Baby Boomers from all walks of life from all over the world. We aren't necessarily looking for high achievers in the traditional sense, just good people who represent the positivity and perseverance of this very special age group," says Jordan.

Nominees will be asked to complete three questions in the nomination process:
1. What is the last word in the 1950's song by Cliff Richard "We're all going on a summer ______"?

2. What activity will the winner be doing on Day 7 of the Thailand Fun Fun Tour departing in January 2016?

3. Why does the person nominated deserve to be the winner of the Discover Me Travel International Baby Boomer of the Year Award? How do they display the following attributes:

· Positivity and perseverance in the face of adversity

· A fun and adventurous spirit

· Deserving of a holiday and a fun, adventure travel experience

Director and Tour Leader of Discover Me Travel, Billie Jordan is also known as the founder and manager of the renown Hip Op-eration Crew; the world's oldest hip hop dance troupe and subject of the international award winning feature documentary film Hip Hop-eration.

Nominations close on 13th September 2015 NZST (New Zealand Standard Time). The ten finalists will be announced on the Discover Me Travel Facebook page on 17th September 2015 NZST and will be open for voting by the public (which will help influence the judge's decision) before the winner is announced on 30th September 2015 NZST.
