Charity seeks changemakers for Challenge 4 Change week

New Zealand’s Orphans Aid International is seeking creative changemakers to help the organisation raise much needed funds during its new Challenge 4 Change week, which runs from 19 – 26 September.

Founder and CEO Sue van Schreven says the organisation is looking for at least 60 changemakers around the country who can think of creative ways to meet the challenge of raising at least $500 each in a week.

“Our Challenge 4 Change week offers a wonderful opportunity for individuals, families, friends or team mates to challenge themselves while raising essential funds to help us continue to meet the needs of our constantly expanding projects.”

Mrs van Schreven says the potential challenge possibilities are endless and could include a bakeathon, going without technology, or perhaps a physical goal such as walking or running a certain distance.

“We’ve had some wonderful proposals for the week already, including one from a person who has offered to go barefoot to help children without footwear and another from a group willing to sleep rough in our Invercargill op-shop window."

The Orphans Aid International team members have also been buzzing with ideas, with Mrs van Schreven deciding to donate the equivalent price of every coffee she buys for the month.

“My other personal challenge will be to have a spring clean, sell some items and donate the proceeds to Orphans Aid International.”

Over recent months, the organisation has increased its capacity to house and care for abandoned children in Romania and Russia, developed new medical and feeding programmes, along with a new school, in India, and has plans to rebuild a village in Nepal.

“Children are relying on us so let’s pull out all the stops and bring change, because we all have the privilege of being able to do that and we’d love your help,” says Mrs van Schreven.

Orphans Aid International have set up a Givealittle event to help fundraisers follow progress and see their combined goals here www.orphansaidinternational.org/C4C
