Honouring New Zealand’s best on and off the field

Honouring New Zealand’s best on and off the field

As a group of special Kiwis compete for the Rugby World Cup title, Kiwibank is calling on New Zealanders right here to honour their own special Kiwis, by nominating them for the 2016 New Zealander of the Year Awards.

Nominations for the 2016 New Zealander of the Year Awards close in just one week and Kiwibank are urging New Zealanders to nominate the very best Kiwis in the country. The New Zealander of the Year is New Zealand’s most prestigious award and celebrates those people who use their passion to make New Zealand a better place to live.

Kiwibank CEO Paul Brock said the awards were the ultimate recognition a community can give its people.

“The nation’s attention is focused squarely on the 31 All Blacks in England. But we must also keep our attention on those thousands of fine New Zealanders doing great things in the community.

“The New Zealander of the Year Awards offers a rare chance for ordinary Kiwis to celebrate and honour exceptional New Zealanders. They recognise good people in our communities - people whose sacrifice, optimism, and commitment make our communities better places.

“We all know of a special someone who has made other peoples’ lives better off. I urge all New Zealanders to put forward a nomination,” he said.

Nominations for New Zealand’s most prestigious awards close on 30 September. Now in its seventh year, the New Zealander of the Year Awards celebrate and honour achievement in six different categories, including the 2016 Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year. Nominations are open to all New Zealanders.
