The Dead Room opens in cinemas today

THE DEAD ROOM OPENS IN CINEMAS TODAY!

Award-winning director, Jason Stutter (creator of the gut-wrenchingly tense series of short films ‘Careful with that’) had just finished a day of filming in Hawera and was winding down with the crew at a pub when he overheard a somewhat aged man telling a tale of a haunted house in central Otago. Jason, a sceptic of haunted claims, listened on with interest, inspired to investigate the claims of a family fleeing their desolate farm house, reportedly because of some terrifying and unexplained events.

The story he’s invented based on this urban legend, will shake you to the core.

As it goes, two paranormal investigators hire the services of a reluctant spirit medium accompanying them to the house to learn the truth of why the family fled when then did. Little do they know a powerful spirit resides, protecting the house's secrets at all costs.

The Dead Room is coming to the big screen this Halloween weekend (Thursday 29 October) and must be experienced in cinemas. It has already been scooped up by sales agents for the US and a second sales agent for the rest of the world, and has been invited to premiere at the prestigious Sitges Film Festival in Spain this October.

A talented cast of Jed Brophy (The Hobbit), Laura Petersen (winner best supporting actress ‘Shopping’) and Jeffrey Thomas (Lord of the Rings) help tell the story of The Dead Room exceptionally well, drawing out the true scare and thrill of the story.

The film will be presented in New Zealand cinemas in Rumble - the first of its kind.

Rumble™ hits the bottom frequencies of a regular cinema’s sub effects speakers. When hit at infrasonic levels the bass frequency creates a physical reaction an audience can feel; the cinema’s seats shaking and then their own body all from the power of bass. Rumble™ is safe, however, for people with a nervous disposition it can create a sense of dread. Scientists believe people who have witnessed paranormal events may actually be just experiencing the after effects of infrasonic sound waves. The Dead Room must be experienced in Rumble, only available in cinemas for its greatest impact – you don’t want to watch this one on your iPhone.

The Dead Room movie opens in New Zealand on Thursday 29th October.
