Moonbase Commander Drops New Single

Moonbase Commander Drops New Single

Arising from the darker and grimier side of the Sydney bass scene, Moonbase Commander is a producer who has begun to chisel a strong presence and sound that stands between the worlds of hip-hop, juke and beats.

Known for his forward-thinking flips and sought-after remixes, MBC has worked with a growing list of international artists. Shortly after embarking on an Australian tour presented by Noisey, Moonbase released his brand new track “Serve It Up” with New York MC Cakes Da Killa earlier this year. The pair put the track up for free download, and within days Pitchfork reviewed it in Best New Music. “Moonbase Commander’s heavy production is laced with swirling, arpeggiated synth lines and gloppy 808 beats, reminiscent of the Neptunes early 2000s takeover.”

Next up, we have “Southpaw”, the second single & title track from his upcoming EP; a grimy, bass heavy tune which perfectly showcases his talent not only working with rappers, but on instrumentals too. Nest HQ describes the track as “ferocious and bold with swarms of gritty bass and polished percussion… it isn’t evil per se, but it does have combative tendencies through its aggressive, primal hits that’ll have your fists clenched and blood pressure elevated”.
