Kiwis climb back up at 2015 Finn Gold Cup

Takapuna turned it on for day four of the 2015 Finn Gold Cup today. The 76 boat fleet sailed races in brilliant conditions which NZL Sailing Team’s Andrew Murdoch and Josh Junior relished.

Seeking redemption after poor results in tricky conditions on day three, both Murdoch and Junior had solid results on the water today and are back in the hunt as the regatta moves into the penultimate day.

Murdoch placed 9th in race six, 6th in race seven and then another 9th to climb back into 5th overall, three points behind Jonathan Lobert of France.

Junior opened the day with a 2nd place, followed that with a 12th and was 4th in race eight to lift his overall position from 28th place up to 14th with a day to try and earn a place in the top ten and a start inSunday’s medal race.

Meanwhile the 2015 Laser Radial World Championships has come to a close in Oman. NZL Sailing Team campaigner Sara Winther finished the regatta in 22nd place overall in the 100 boat fleet.
