Baristacats Café Opens Its Doors Today

Baristacats Café, Auckland’s Central Cat Café, Opens Its Doors Today at 95 Queen Street

Wednesday, 1 December 2015

Cat-lovers of Auckland rejoice! Just in time for the holiday season, BaristaCats Café has thrown open its doors in the heart of Auckland’s CBD. Already described by one reviewer as a “cat-filled oasis” in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown Auckland, BaristaCats is a delight for all visitors who step through its doors.

Great espresso coffee (provided by expert Auckland roasters Be.Specialty coffee), delicious sandwiches, muffins, cakes and scones, and a cast of 11 diverse, delightful (and sometimes delirious) cats – what more could anybody wish for?

All cats who call BaristaCats home have been sourced from cat rescue shelters in the local area, meaning the café provides a haven for cats in search of a “forever home”. And what a home! BaristaCats proudly sports cat climbing frames, cat poles, a veritable forest of cat trees, an “Indiana Jones” bridge, and enough ticklers and toy mice to keep our cats occupied for years! Our cats are fed only top-quality, vet-approved cat food, and tended to by our own devoted local vet partner. The BaristaCats dream was brought to life by owner Julia Whitehead, with the support of a PledgeMe campaign which raised more than $15,000 to support the café’s launch.

For just $15, our guests can spend an hour enjoying the company of our gorgeous cats, as well as a complimentary coffee or other hot beverage of their choice. BaristaCats accepts walk-ins, but with demand for some time with our cat family already running hot, we recommend booking in advance through our website at www.baristacats.co.nz to avoid disappointment.

BaristaCats makes the purrrrfect setting for an afternoon out in the city, a weekend catch-up with friends or even a quick lunchtime detox from the stresses of urban life. We are also open for private bookings and special events on demand. Come down to 95 Queen Street and check out our cat-filled oasis today!
