Torpedo7 partners with Hillary Outdoors: Giving kiwi kids a chance to participate in outdoor learning experiences

Hillary Outdoors announced this week it has partnered with outdoor adventure gear specialist retailer, Torpedo7.

The partnership launched with a community fundraising initiative that will run through every Torpedo7 store nationwide, and via the Torpedo7 website. The goal is to raise funds to send more than 50 school students from around New Zealand to Hillary Outdoors Tongariro or Great Barrier Island in 2016. Students selected to go will be those who may not normally get the opportunity to go to a Hillary Outdoors Centre, and will have an opportunity to take part in activities such as kayaking, rock climbing and caving.

Hillary Outdoors Chief Executive Graham Seatter says there is natural affinity between the brands that makes the partnership perfect.

“Both Torpedo7 and Hillary Outdoors live and breathe outdoor adventures. The natural synergy between our brands makes this a very exciting venture for Hillary Outdoors.

“We have the mutual community goal of providing more New Zealanders with opportunities to experience the outdoors in meaningful way, and we are looking forward to exploring ways to work together,” says Seatter.

“Importantly though, our partnership with Torpedo7 will provide us with an opportunity to ‘give the gift of the outdoors’ to more young kiwis who deserve the chance to discover more about themselves and their place in society, all while participating in a range of adventurous activities.”

Matt Campbell, Chief Executive Torpedo7 says outdoor education is an invaluable and often life changing experience, and something all young kiwis should have access to.

“Being able to give kiwi kids, who might otherwise not have had the opportunity, the chance to grow through adventure and outdoor learning experiences is a great way for Torpedo7 to give back to the community. We are very proud to be associated with Hillary Outdoors and all the inspiring work they do,” says Matt.

About the campaign:
The campaign will run from 1 December – 2 January 2016. Torpedo7 customers will have an opportunity to donate at the checkout of any Torpedo7 store or when purchasing gear online www.torpedo7.co.nz
