A Time for Giving

A Time for Giving

Maria Tutaia, Nadia Lim, Jacqui Brown, Pio Terei and Erin Simpson have a lot of presents to wrap this Christmas and some of them might be yours.

New Zealand celebrities will be putting their present wrapping skills on display from next week as they support the beneficiary of Scentre Group’s Westfield Shopping Centres gift wrapping donations campaign – youth cancer charity, CanTeen.

Christmas is traditionally a special time when families come together, exchange gifts and share joy but sadly for many young people on the cancer journey, this occasion can highlight the hard times they are facing.

Scentre Group’s New Zealand Regional Manager, Linda Trainer says the aim of Westfield’s Christmas campaign is to inspire shoppers to show goodwill in the season of giving.

“Westfield’s wish this Christmas is to support CanTeen on their mission to ensure no 13-24 year old ever fights cancer alone,” says Trainer.

It is the tenth year Westfield has supported New Zealand charities at Christmas, and this year is the first that all shopping centres have supported one charity in a national effort. Shoppers will be encouraged to embrace the Christmas spirit by donating a gold coin at gift wrapping booths across the country.

Funds raised throughout the festive season will directly benefit teenagers living with cancer in the communities of Westfield centres at the beginning of the 2016 by providing them with opportunities to enjoy regional activities like summer camps, counselling services and one-to-one support.

CanTeen CEO Bruce Pilbrow says the support is vital to ensure 13 – 24 years old battling cancer get the support they need to win their fight and thrive beyond it.

“CanTeen is about embracing life and getting on with things – helping young people living with cancer continue to enjoy life and everything it has to offer,” adds Mr Pilbrow.

The campaign kicks off with gift wrapping booths open at Westfield Albany, Queensgate and Riccarton from Monday 7thDecember. For other gift wrapping times, see below.
