On Saturday, John Key’s performance at this week’s United Nations Climate Summit in Paris has not gone down well, with New Zealand earning a fossil award for what is seen as a failure to failure to fully embrace the kaupapa of reducing carbon emissions. In Korero Mai ki Ahu this week Eruera Morgan talks to environmentalist Hinekaa Mako, who earlier this year traveled to Norway to protest Statoil’s search for oil off the Northland coast. She talks about that fight and the fears our Pacific Island cousins have that their homelands will disappear under rising sea levels.

On Sunday, On Sunday Eruera talks to former Labour MP and minister Dover Samuels about the Andrew Little’s caucus reshuffle which brought Te Taitokerau MP Kelvin Davis onto the front bench with responsibility for the party’s Maori development policy. Another Northlander, Peeni Henare, comes into the shadow cabinet with a new role to speak up for the interests of urban Maori.
