Flume shares ‘Smoke & Retribution' featuring Vince Staples and Kučka

Only weeks since sharing the first single of his upcoming LP Skin, ‘Never Be Like You feat. Kai’, Flume is back with its AA-side.

Premiering overnight as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1, ‘Smoke & Retribution’ is unlike anything we’ve heard from the young producer (full name Harley Streten) before. Featuring guest vocals from LA-based rapper Vince Staplesand a beguiling chorus from experimental up-and-comer Kučka, the track is a beat-heavy contrast to ‘Never Be Like You feat. Kai’, and a sure sign of the sonic diversity we can expect from the new album.

‘Never Be Like You feat. Kai’ (which premiered as the ‘Hottest Record in the World’by Annie Mac at BBC’s Radio 1 last week) has had more than a staggering 7 million streams globally.

The track is the first official single from Flume’s upcoming Future Classic album, Skin, and is a collaborative effort with Canadian vocalist Kai - a rising artist in her own right having written for Jessie J, Rihanna and Janelle Monae as well as featuring on tracks by Diplo, Jack U and Childish Gambino.

‘Never Be Like You feat. Kai’ hit #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral chart, where it has remained for six days. It is also sitting at #1 on the Australian, New Zealand, US, Canadian and UK viral charts; as well as entering the Australian iTunes chart at #3 and maintaining a steady #1 on Hype Machine!

It was instantly picked up by Australian radio, being the #1 most added song this week and with stations triple j, NOVA and The Hit Network all adding it to A-list rotation. InNew Zealand, the song has been already added by George fm, ZM and The Edge and is top 20 on the iTunes chart.
