Applications Open And Mentors Announced for Ignite 2016

Ten music industry professionals will mentor the next generation of aspiring young event managers, and offer them insight to the inner workings of the industry through an exciting new training initiative - IGNITE. The mentors will provide one-on-one support, advice and practical information to the IGNITE participants on a 15 week course that commences in Auckland this March. Applications to participate in this free programme close on Sunday 21 February, 6pm.

Each participant will be paired with a mentor taking into consideration their musical interests and aspirations.

Three of the lucky young participants will be mentored by either Teresa Patterson (CRS Management), Lorraine Barry (Lorraine Barry Management) or Wairere Iti (Music Managers Forum, NZ Music Commission). Each of these mentors has over 20 years of invaluable event experience and industry knowledge and their involvement is thanks to the support of the Music Managers Forum.

A further seven young people will be teamed up with mentors who have been specifically chosen for their varied skill sets as well as their huge passion for fostering creativity in young people. The mentors are Ami Holifield (Freelance), Amy Pollard (Auckland Council), Anthony Metcalf (100% GOOD), Ellie Smith (Freelance Tour Manager), Kat Saunders (Auckland Museum, Super Rad Babes), Sarin Moddle (Freelance Artist Liaison, The BizDojo) and Zac Arnold (Radio New Zealand, Flying Out).

Applications to participate in the first IGNITE programme are now open until Sunday 21 February 6pm. A total of ten placements is available and there is no cost to participate in the programme which runs from 12 March to 23 June 2016. Full programme information, mentor bios and the application form are available at www.igniteprogramme.org.nz
