AUFF is excited to announce that submissions are open
AUFF is excited to announce that submissions are open for our inaugural event!
The Auckland Underground Film Festival (AUFF) is a short film and video art festival showcasing New Zealands creative talent alongside innovative video artists from around the globe. On 30 September 2016 well be screening new experimental films and time-based media video art at The Academy Cinemas in a free public event.
AUFF was born when festival director Natasha Cantwell realised that energy spent lamenting Aucklands lack of an experimental film festival could be put to better use by simply organising one.
Inspired by the success of neighbouring festivals such as Wellingtons WUFF and Brisbanes BUFF, as well as the community vibe of Melbournes DIY filmmaking scene, she wanted to provide Auckland filmmakers and film lovers with the same opportunities. AUFF aims to increase the visibility of experimental film in Auckland and create a supportive platform for the exciting and challenging work that is outside the scope of mainstream film festivals and art galleries.
Were currently seeking short films, video art and experimental cinema pieces (abstract, narrative or documentary) between 0 and 15 minutes. Both filmmakers and time-based media artists are encouraged to enter and thanks to support from the Waitemata Local Board and The Wallace Foundation, submissions are free for New Zealand creators! Were accepting online submissions until 1 August 2016 at www.aucklandundergroundfilmfestival.org.
