A LABEL CALLED SUCCESS HOST DEBUT SHOW WITH RED BULL SOUND SELECT TOMORROW NIGHT

- Andras Fox (Mexican Summer/Dopeness Galore/AUS) – HIGH HØØPS – Spycc - Hugo Jay - Manuel Darquart –

On Friday February 26 at Auckland's Cassette Nine, A Label Called Success step to the Red Bull Sound Select captain's deck to steer us through a cool evening of feel-good music headlined by Melbourne's Andras Fox, with support from HIGH HØØPS, Spycc, Hugo Jay and Manuel Darquart.

Based in Auckland, A Label Called Success is a collaborative venture between Connor Nestor and Jordan Arts (HIGH HØØPS). Born out of a conversation about the amount of amazing music that sits unreleased on the hard drives of musicians and producers around the world, it's a no pressure platform for them share songs they love with music fans everywhere. "We are the enthusiastic friend to the shy talented friend," says Arts.

Driven by the idea that, as Connor puts it, "Success can be whatever you want it to be," the last five months have seen them release digital singles from A Label Called Success in-house band A Band Called Success, Ride Minders and HIGH HØØPS, with a casual schedule of local and internationally based releases booked in for 2016. "If it feels good, out it goes," Connor enthuses.

With their Cassette Nine event on the 26th, A Label Called Success is taking the party offline, for what will be their first official live event. "The show is going to be the first chance to see and hear brand new music from all of the team," Connor says. "HIGH HØØPS has a fresh set full of new music which will be coming out this year. We're really excited to debut it. It's going to be nice having Andras Fox join us for a few days before the show too. We're hoping to get in the studio with a couple of the guys and see where that goes. We're feeling really good about the line-up and feel like doing this show at Cassette will be a nod back to our earlier lives, as it's where we spent a lot of time listening to music and dancing."

From Melbourne, Andras Fox is one of the most accomplished producer/DJ's to emerge out of the Australian underground electronic music scene this decade. Made with drum machines, new age synths and straight to tape recordings, his music triangulates a distinctly Antipodean sound equal parts 80s Library Music, Chicago House and G-Funk. In recent years, he's released albums and singles via Dopeness Galore (NL) and Mexican Summer (US) and won acclaim from the likes of Dam Funk, James Pants and DJ Sprinkles. Covering a diverse spectrum of dance music his DJ sets are deep, informed and most importantly, undeniably engaging.

New to Red Bull Sound Select, Manuel Darquart are Auckland DJs/live electronica performers Sean Whittaker and Louis Anderson-Rich. Seven years ago they discovered a common love of Cosmic Disco and Euphoric House and never looked back. This summer they supported Seven Davis Jr and Francis Inferno Orchestra at the inaugural Anno Domino event on the rooftop of Auckland Art Gallery. Now they're taking the Manuel Darquart experience live.

Also new to Red Bull Sound Select, Hugo Jay is one of the main players within local underground music collective Inky Waves. A deep DJ and producer, he has a collaborative EP in the wings with Boycrush and a forthcoming release as Ride Minders (with Taste Nasa) on the way.

A familiar face to Red Bull Sound Select audiences, HIGH HØØPS recently returned from a sold-out show supporting BOOTS in Los Angeles as part of the #30DaysInLAFestival. Outside of the nostalgic sunkissed synth-pop jams, he creates as HIGH HØØPS; he's also one fifth of hotly tipped Auckland supergroup LEISURE. As Connor puts it, "HØØPS is the prince of palm trees, dusty samples and throwback hooks."

Last but not least, we have Onehunga's Spycc. An all-rapping, all-producing conceptualist, Spycc recently performed at Rhythm & Vines and is on his way towards ticking over a quarter of a million soundcloud plays on his tune 'Other Lover' with HIGH HØØPS. Bringing together the vibrancy of South Auckland and the low-slung cool of Los Angeles rap and G-Funk, his music is pure vibes.

Taking us on a smooth cruise of Rap, G-Funk, House and Disco, A Label Called Success and Red Bull Sound Select are coming together for a very special evening of top shelf entertainment. RSVP now for $3 entry atwww.redbullsoundselect.com/nz and join the vibe!
