$4668 Grant for Bulls School Launches

$4668 Grant for Bulls School Launches

Variety Trillian Bash

Convoy to hit South Island March 12

The Variety Trillian Bash starts in Levin on March 12, but it’s already handed over a cheque at Bulls School.

The $4668 cheque was to buy the school a Basket Swing. Kandy Mott, team captain of Ohakune’s Seuss Subbus team, handed the cheque to school principal Kim Gordon, who said the school had requested a basket swing for students who have trouble paying attention in the classroom.

Ms Gordon said, “The teachers suspect that some of their students suffer from FASD. Studies show that ‘rhythmic patterning’ calms the brainstems and allows children to be better focused in the classroom. The school has already noticed an improvement by using rocking horses in the classrooms, and believe that a swing will bring a significant change.”

Ms Gordon said the swing will be ordered next week.

From Bulls, the Subbus joined over 20 other vehicles and 140 people signing in for the start at Levin, where the 2016 Variety Trillian Bash will be flagged away from the Adventure Park in Levin’s main street at 9.30am.

Mayor Brendan Duffy will do the honours, with the convoy due at the Bluebridge ferry dock at noon to entertain children from the Child Cancer Foundation before baording to cross Cook Strait.

The Variety Trillian Bash will visit 21 schools and over 4000 children in the next week.
