On Saturday, For many Pacific island nations, fisheries are the major source of potential revenue, if they can be managed successfully and sustainable. New Zealand is putting $50 million towards improving fisheries management systems in the region, whether that means exporting ideas like quota management of developing new ideas. Its ambassador to the region, Shane Jones, has been hosting 40 Pacific fisheries ministers and officials here to learn about this country's approach to fisheries management. In Korero Mai Ki Ahau this Saturday he talks with Eruera Morgan about the challenges and the opportunities.

On Sunday, Access to tupapaku has long been an area where whanau come into conflict with hospitals, police, coroners and funeral directors. The Maori Affairs Select Committee has launched an inquiry into whether cultural expectations are accounted for in the current system and whether improvements can be made. In Korero Mai Ki Ahau, Eruera Morgan asked Waikato University professor of te reo and tikanga Pou Temara from Ngai Tuhoe about Maori rituals surrounding death and what changes he would like to see.

Korero Mai Ki Ahau a half hour features programme every Saturday and Sunday from noon, which takes an in – depth look at issues affecting te ao Maori. Totally in te reo Maori brought to you by Waatea News in association with Te Mangai Paho.
