CATCH ‘EM BEFORE THEY TAKE OFF!

NEW ZEALAND COMEDY TRUST PRESENTS

NEXT BIG THINGS – WELLINGTON

HOSTED BY CORI GONZALEZ-MACUER

The future of comedy is here with Next Big Things, showcasing fresh comedians in this impressively hilarious stand-up show on Tuesday 26th April at San Fran. This is your chance to catch some home-grown talent before they’re too big they end up in Taylor Swift’s crew.

Cori Gonzalez-Macuer (What We Do In The Shadows) hosts a line-up of talented comedians who were handpicked by the New Zealand Comedy Trust and are making their name on the Wellington comedy circuit and beyond. Previous Next Big Things graduates are going strong, with many of them bringing solo shows to the Comedy Fest this year. From Guy Williams to Urzila Carlson to Tom Furniss, previous comics have springboarded from this platform to build and expand their career.

This year, expect a lot of energy and excitement from onstage and the crowd in this one night only show, where the performers are sure to be putting their best foot forward.

“… the stronghold of talent that is Next Big Things have clearly been busy fine-tuning their art. Let the era of funny continue” – Keeping up with NZ Our Next Big Things for 2016 are:

Ben MacGougan
Completely at ease on stage with his boyish charm, Ben wins the audience over with brilliantly timed comedy and wittily crafted stories.

Finn Roy
A staple in the Wellington Comedy scene, clever tales and dry wit with an arsenal of puns and selfdepreciating humour.

Joel Hansby
Performing slightly-late coming-of-age humour with awkward youthful characterisations, Joel has a low key and endearing quality to his comedy riddled with self-loathing one-liners.

Lucy Roche
Lucy skewers aggressive sexuality and takes no prisoners. She's strong, confident and charms the audience to her own liking.

Molly Sokhom
Smart and colloquial, charming and idiosyncratic, Molly commands the stage as she navigates affably through life’s awkward land mines and folly-shafts.

Patch Lambert
An effervescent and engaging character on stage, he combines sharp one-liners and acute observations to relay personal anecdotes, whimsical stories and ridiculous ideas about how to save the world.

Pete Hodkinson
With searing insight and wit, Pete is a fresh face in the New Zealand comedy circuit yet has already been a finalist in Wellington’s Raw Comedy Quest and ‘Last Comic Standing’ competitions.
