Feastbox's star treatment for Mother'sDay

Give mum the star treatment with Feastbox this Mother’s Day

“It’s all about nurturing the nurturer this Mother’s Day,” says Feastbox, the new kid on the block when it comes to home food delivery. And what better way than by providing them with a three course meal designed by a chef for the stars.

The business has just been running for a couple of months but already FeastBox founders Rachel Brown and Tara Wrigley are run off their feet after finding a niche in providing food kits for entertaining and dinner parties.

They launched with a food kit for Easter and are now firmly focused on the future and their next FeastBoxes, which they say will include entertaining solutions for calendar events. Regular, seasonal boxes will be on offer as well.

The two have created the perfect Mother’s Day gift: a meal to share with Mum, Dad and the kids, and one to get the extended family around to celebrate. Each box comes with a posy of flowers and a card for Mum.

“As mums we really appreciate it when our husbands make the effort, even though sometimes we tell them not to worry. It’s about seizing special moments and building long, lasting memories. While Mother’s Day offers the opportunity to come together, sharing food makes it funfilled and exciting,” say Rachel and Tara.

Feedback from FeastBox customers has been extremely positive, and many have said how much fun the whole experience is.

“Your FeastBox was a smashing hit,” comments one customer who enjoyed a threecourse meal at a bach in Raglan.

“The men (who all cooked the meal) did really well, and as mainly novice cooks they were able to follow the very clear instructions and were all very pleased with themselves as the meal was delicious.”

Customers expect highquality ingredients, easytofollow recipes and a great dinner result, however they don’t count on the preparation as being a form of entertainment in itself, say Rachel and Tara.

“That’s so rewarding to hear.”

FeastBox hosts guest chefs, and for Mother’s Day the duo has teamed up with a chef who has cooked for a number of stars in the music industry.

Cheryl Beere, a Kiwi who spent 20 years living in San Francisco, is renowned for cooking clean, healthy food. Her reputation landed her jobs as a personal chef on tours, cooking for Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera, to name but a few!

After a stint as Google’s head vegetarian chef, Cheryl returned to New Zealand, where she now runs The Local Eatery & Bar in Raglan.

The Mother’s Day menus echo Cheryl’s philosophy that good food can be healthy. They are full of fresh, local produce, and use freerange, sprayfree and organic products where possible.

FeastBox believes in seasonal, sustainable products, and developing a social business that is about giving and creating, and not just profit.

“Our Mother’s Day FeastBoxes are gifts that give,” say Rachel and Tara. “They support the Waikato Breast Cancer Research Trust, which does fantastic work in our community, for the benefit of women in the Waikato, and nationally and internationally. Their mission to reduce the burden of breast cancer through research is one we feel strongly about. It’s a cause that most of us can relate to with so many women and families knowing someone affected by this terrible disease.”

$5 from every Mother’s Day FeastBox goes to the Waikato Breast Cancer Research Trust.

Orders for Mother’s Day FeastBoxes close Monday, May 2, in time for a Saturday, May 7, delivery to Waikato and Auckland.

“We understand that we are asking people to think about doing things a bit differently but we trust that we are on to a good thing and believe that New Zealand is ready to give our concept a go.” FeastBox is striving to take the foodsharing experience to the next level.
