Farmers encouraged to have a laugh

Farmers encouraged to have a laugh

Laughter will be bought to farmers in the Manawatu next month thanks to comedian Jeremy Elwood.

Manawatu Rangitikei Federated Farmers, in conjunction with the Manawatu Rural Support Trust, are hosting a comedy event for the farming community in an effort to bring the farming fraternity closer and offer support through a difficult time.

"This is the strength of what rural community should be about," says Manawatu Rangitikei Federated Farmers President James Stewart.

"Laughter is the best medicine for what’s been a pretty tough season for many of our farmers. This is an event for the rural community where they can come and not only have some comic entertainment but have a catch up and a yarn with each other."

A ‘disco evening' and other activities has been lined up for the kids - and with them being entertained adults can enjoy some of their own entertainment via comedian Jeremy Elwood, well known from being on shows such as Seven Days.

The comedy evening is being held at the Te Kawau Memorial Ground Rongotea on Friday, June 3 from 6pm.
