Hip Op-eration Dance Goes Global

Hip Op-eration Dance Goes Global

24th May 2016

People in every country in the world can now become part of the Hip Op-eration dance phenomena. The Hip Op-eration Crew, a hip hop dance group of senior citizens aged 71 to 96 years old, rose to fame following their stand-up performance at the World Hip Hop Championships in Las Vegas and the release of an award winning feature documentary film about them continues to screen in cinemas globally.

"Ever since I set up the dance group I've had senior citizens from all over the world wanting to join the Hip Op-eration Crew or have one established in their hometown. So I have now rolled it out to every country in the world in the form of the global Hip Op-eration Dance Academy™," says Hip Op-eration Crew Founder, Choreographer and Manager Billie Jordan.

The Academy is currently attracting people to become Certified Instructors by doing a 30 hour online course. Once certified, these instructors will have all the skills and support material they need to set up hip hop dance classes and dance crews in their hometowns.

"The online course can be done at the learner's own pace and completed in one week, one month or even over one year. It's up to them. Once they have their Instructors Certificate they are given instructional dance videos, copyright free music, marketing support material and everything else they need to run their own successful Hip Op-eration Dance Academy business," says Jordan.

People of any age will be able to join classes and dance crew's run by certified Hip Op-eration Dance Academy instructors. However, only people aged 55 and over will be able to compete in the Hip Op-eration Dance Academy World Championships.

"We're really excited about our Academy World Championships because it will be the first time in history senior citizens will compete in hip hop dance at an international level. The location of our World Championships is yet to be announced, as we're currently looking at locations around the world which will be a fun and safe place for our participants to visit. The first Academy World Championships will be held at the end of 2017," says Jordan.

The Hip Op-eration Dance Academy online instructors course includes special techniques to teach students with dementia, how to perform and teach over 40 competition level hip hop dance moves, how to choreograph hip hop dance routines and a wide range of other learning material needed to be a successful instructor with the Academy.

"The great thing about being an Instructor with the Academy is you can do your job in your own time, set your own prices and work as little or as much as you like. It's not just a business but also a wonderful way to make a positive contribution to your community," says Jordan.

The Hip Op-eration Dance Academy's company mission is 'Defy Expectations' and an emphasis is put on developing the potential of senior citizens and changing the way people view aging.

The Founder Billie Jordan delivered an inspirational Ted Talk last year and speaks to audiences globally about how raising the expectations we have of ourselves and others in seniorhood can result in longer, happier and more fulfilling lives.
