Coming To A Town Near You - Avalanche City Hits The Road

Coming To A Town Near You - Avalanche City Hits The Road

Hot on the heels of the rip-roaring success of WE ARE FOR THE WILD PLACES, Avalanche City hits the road today for the band’s most extensive New Zealand tour yet.

The man behind the moniker, Dave Baxter, is undoubtedly one of the hardest working artists in the business and is taking his touring band to all corners of the country. With 10 dates all up, Baxter has handpicked some of New Zealand’s most impressive live venues, from the Powerstation in Auckland, to the MTG Century Theatre in Napier and the Regent on Broadway in Palmerston North.

Up-and-coming Kiwi singer-songwriter Ciaran McMeeken will open for Avalanche City on all 10 dates. With his self released debut EP THE VALLEY in 2014, McMeeken caught the attention of acclaimed producer Greg Haver, who worked with McMeeken to produce the seven-track SCREAMING MANEP, receiving much acclaim upon it’s release late last year.

Avalanche City’s long-awaited sophomore album WE ARE FOR THE WILD PLACES is the mature follow-up to an accidental hit career, launched to critical acclaim. Released last year, the record debuted at #3 on the Official Top 40 Albums Chart (and also peaked at #1 on the iTunes album chart).

The album’s beautiful first single, ‘Inside Out’ was a chart and radio smash hit – reaching #1 airplay for five consecutive weeks. The track quickly reached platinum sales and peaked at #1 on the sales chart, remaining consistently active in the top 10 on iTunes.

The second official single from the album, ‘Keep Finding A Way’ also received extensive airplay, peaking at #25 on the airplay chart.

Baxter toured shortly after releasing WE ARE FOR THE WILD PLACES last year, performing sold-out theatre shows in major centres throughout New Zealand and thoroughly impressing his fans in the process with the live rendition of the album.

WE ARE FOR THE WILD PLACES (mixed by Death Cab For Cutie’s Chris Walla) is a mature and fitting follow-up to Avalanche City’s debut album - OUR NEW LIFE ABOVE THE GROUND, which spawned the Silver Scroll-winning single, ‘Love Love Love’ (currently at 2.5million views on YouTube!).

The Avalanche City LITTLE FIRE tour is for all ages and is proudly presented by More FM and The Edge. Please note a change of venue for New Plymouth, from the Theatre Royal to The Mayfair.
