Arli Annouces International Festival Dates, New Album Out

Arli Annouces International Festival Dates,
New Album Out Today

Seamlessly blending Middle Eastern heritage and Western influences, Arli’s distinctive global sound will be put to new international ears over July and August - joining Wanderlust Festival for performances in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia, alongside his own shows in New York, Malibu and Colorado.

Shaping expansive soundscapes using nothing but guitar, loops and pedals in both his live performances and recordings, Arli continues to captivate with his sophomore album Allegra - out today [24.06.16] - promising a bolder, darker and bigger sound. Arli will celebrate the release with a show at Auckland's LOT23 on Saturday 2nd July.

Building on the release of his first LP Fata Morgana, Allegra moves away from his debut’s lighter, uplifting narrative to explore the darker parts of music and life. The juxtaposition was an intentional one, with Arli highlighting the good in the bad, the increased depth possible though a more realised and full-hearted approach and the ability for darkness to sound beautiful.

“What I want to show in this album is that darkness isn’t necessarily a bad thing. There’s no light without dark”

Arli’s music in itself is a juxtaposition, with the artist describing it as being able to both “empower words but also empower silences. It’s elastic music for transforming moods.”

It’s this transformative quality – the ability to both fill space, or sit comfortably in the background – that has translated so well to the yoga and meditation world, with a number of notable performances and collaborations with renowned instructors also coming up.

Performing alongside the classes of revered yogi Shiva Rea at Wanderlust Squaw Valley and Whistler, with instructor and author Elena Brower for co-headline shows in New York and collaborating with Australia’s Jonni Pollard on a soundtrack for accompanying the instructor's book release, Arli’s incredible talent allows him to effortlessly improvise in response to different audiences.

It’s this insurmountable talent that has also seen working with NZ’s own Don McGlashan on a specially composted track for the World of Wearable Arts show, and has lead to the opportunity to start work on scoring a movie, set in his birthplace of Israel.

Allegra is available now from all good digital stores now, with limited edition USB snap bracelets - featuring a copy of the album - available at live shows. Full tour dates:
