NZME launch new Whangarei radio station – Mix89.2

29 June 2016 – New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) announced today a new radio station Mix89.2 is coming to Whangarei on Monday 4 July.

The station will play a continuous blend of the very best music from the 80's and 90's. On Mix89.2 you’ll hear superstars like Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, Crowded House, INXS, U2 and Robbie Williams alongside gems from the 80’s and 90’s that you won’t have heard on the radio for a very long time.

Mix Breakfast will be hosted by radio and TV personality Mel Homer, who is excited about engaging with Whangarei listeners. “I always like to mix it up on my show and chat to guests and experts on a range of topics, from beauty and food through to technology and entertainment. I'm an avid sailor and love to visit Whangarei!” says Homer. “I'm sure they'll love the throwback tunes on Mix89.2.”

NZME Group Director – Entertainment, Dean Buchanan says the team is thrilled to launch Mix89.2 in Whangarei and offer people an exciting music alternative.

“We identified a clear gap in the market in Whangarei for listeners who love music from the 80’s and 90’s without all the talk and hype of the other stations. Mix89.2 will play Madonna's Like a Virgin next to Coolio’s Gangsta’s Paradise. We’re finding all the best songs from the 80’s and 90’s and then pressing shuffle!”

Mix89.2 can be heard on 89.2FM from Monday 4 July.
