NZ V8 Utes Confirms Six Round Series

Six circuits, Supercars and back to back weekends on the South Island all feature in calendar

The New Zealand V8 Ute racing series is confident of building on a successful 2016 sprint season with the announcement of a full six round series running throughout the 2016-2017 summer season and taking in events in both the North Island and South Island.

The series will run at six different circuits and will include the regular Holden and Ford runners, as well as some new faces.

To begin its season, NZ V8 Utes will make again appear at the Supercar event at Pukekohe in November. The category then slots into the new Speedworks Premier Motorsport Championship calendar with Round 2 at the Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park, Taupo on December 9/10/11.

The V8 Utes then go back to back supporting the two Toyota Racing Series events on the South Island at the Mike Pero Motorsport Park, Ruapuna over the weekend of January 12-15 for Round 3 and then to Teretonga Park the following weekend for Round 4 and what is certain to be a popular appearance in front of a knowledgeable and enthusiastic crowd.

Round 5 is another high profile event, with the NZ V8 racing Utes joining the grids supporting the New Zealand Grand Prix once again. The season finale, the sixth round, sees the field head to Hampton Downs on March 10/11/12.

The NZ V8 racing ute series reached a high point at the Grand Prix round of its Sprint Season run in the summer at Manfeild Autocourse, with no fewer than 18 cars taking the start. There are hopes to match this and indeed increase the size of the field after recent interest from Australia as well as from prospective drivers on home soil.

It will be one of the top grids in the new-look Premier Championship, sharing the billing at the events with categories like the BNT Touring Cars, the single seater Toyotas, muscle cars and the domestic GT field.
