Massive Weight Advantaghe for Fa in Big Bash Event

Massive Weight Advantaghe for Fa in Big Bash v Co-Main Event

Former Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Junior Fa appeared in supreme shape as he weighed in for Big Bash V at Doolan Brothers on Thursday night.

Fa, who is aiming to follow in former amateur rival Joseph Parker’s footsteps and ascend to the top of the professional heavyweight ranks, tipped the scales at 118.7kg – an advantage of exactly 11 kilograms over opponent Junior “Red Eyed Pitbull” Pati.

The four-rounder is scheduled for the last fight of the evening on the TV3-televised event, which begins at Auckland’s ASB Stadium at 6.30pm.

The co-main event sees Gunnar Jackson defend his NZPBA middleweight title against NZNBF champ Mose Auimatagi Jr. Jackson weighed in at 72.4kg, while Auimatagi Jr tipped the scales at 72.55.

Just 0.4kg separated main undercard fighters Ricky “The Ghost” Murphy and Wellington’s Blake “Playa” Bell – with NZPBA super welterweight champ Murphy the slightly heavier at 69.85kg.

BIG BASH V screens live on TV3 from 9.30pm on Friday. Live streaming from tv3.co.nz/bigbashboxing from 7.45pm.
