NZ premiere 8 August: "The Solar Nation of Tokelau"
The TV documentary “The Solar
Nation of Tokelau” was produced for German TV and
broadcast by ARTE TV, a French-German arts and culture
channel, in September 2015. It shows how a small Pacific
island nation switched its power supply to 100% solar
energy, thus becoming the first nation in the world to be
free of CO2 emissions and having the most sustainable power
generation on earth. At the same time Tokelau is one of the
small island groups that is most affected by climate change.
And yet it has given the world an example of how the fight
against climate change can effectively be fought by even the
smallest countries in the world.
The screening of the English version of this documentary will be a NZ and Asia-Pacific premiere.
The event has been organised by Rotary Club Devonport and is supported by the New Zealand German Business Association (German Trade Office), The German Embassy and the Goethe Institute in Wellington.
