Cooking Urban Hangi, American BBQ, Spanish Tapas & Wine

Cooking Urban Hangi, American BBQ, Spanish Tapas & Wine, NZ Wines

New Zealand School of Food & Wine

Travel the world in your wine glass and on your plate with modern tapas, Spanish wine and an urban hangi at the third annual Wine and Food Celebration from 10 to 12 September 2016 in Auckland

If you enjoy tapas, want to cook Thai food or are intrigued by the idea of an urban hangi, then head to the New Zealand School of Food and Wine in September this year for the third annual Wine and Food Celebration.

The event was first launched in 2014 by school director and founder, Celia Hay, who has secured international wine experts and chefs for this year’s event. Among those attending is chef David Puig Zaragoza from Maximal Concepts in Hong Kong and a former pastry chef of the year winner in 2013 and World Champion Patissier in 2005. Hay met him while on her wine travels in Hong Kong.

I am excited to have such an adventurous chef as David at this year’s Wine and Food Celebration because his tapas push new boundaries, such as foie gras that is encased in candy floss – it sounds so different and tastes incredible,” says Hay, who is also focussing strongly on Spanish wine at this year’s event.

Spain is home to some of the best value red wines on Earth, which include wines which are quite new in this country, such as Garnacha (also known as Grenache), which is fruity, soft and easy to enjoy. I’m thrilled to introduce wines like this to New Zealanders at this year’s celebration,” she says.
