Three All-Rounders Deliver Short & Wide
Three All-Rounders Deliver Short & Wide
Irreverent and refreshingly honest comes Short & Wide, the newest sports and entertainment show on the local scene giving viewers access to New Zealand’s favourite sports personalities.
Hosted by three self-proclaimed failed sportsmen, George Harper Jnr, Anthony (Ants) Niterl, and Andrew (AJ) James, Short & Wide will talk to special guests in front of a live studio audience each week.
George hopes that Kiwis will appreciate their
style of sports broadcasting. He says: “Named after one of
the worst deliveries in cricket – Short & Wide
will bring you possibly one of the worst, but
highly entertaining deliveries in sports
broadcasting.”
Delving deep into the special
guests’ personalities, Short & Wide
will cover the fast facts and insights not
usually explored in sporting stories.
AJ jokes that
although the hosts themselves aren’t great sportsmen,
viewers will enjoy getting to know a different side of their
sporting stars, he says: “We thrive in and around but not
necessarily on the sports field, so we’re looking forward
to chewing the fat with some of New Zealand’s sporting
best and giving Kiwis something off the beaten
track.”
Originally a series of online clips with a dedicated following, Short & Wide has been picked up by TVNZ to launch on a bigger playing field. Ants is most excited about getting out of the garage and onto NZ screens: "We started in a flat garage with a mobility scooter as an office chair, so we’re really excited for our first season in a much better garage and what’s next to come.”
Short &
Wide is currently in production with Reel
Factory and will be made into eight 12min episodes available
weekly on TVNZ OnDemand* and DUKE** from August 23rd.
The series has been made with the support of Fresh Up.
Before Short & Wide launches, George, Ants and AJ were asked how they would promote their show – check out their ideas now in The Boardroom.
